Wild Water Ride

  • Water Ride | since 1977 | Freshly cut logs are transported to the sawmill via a water canal. Not infrequently the lumberjacks sit on the trunk themselves and hunt down the drops

It is one of the oldest rides in the history of modern theme parks and the first form of an action-packed water ride. The so-called Log Flumes have their origins in "good old America", and were quickly one of the most popular attractions. To this day, they have lost none of their charm.

The company Arrow Development built the first prototype in the American amusement park Six Flags over Texas, and without a doubt the wave of success floated also to Europe. Thus, the first German wild water course was presented in 1974 by the German manufacturer MACK Rides in Phantasialand. However, the first original American wild water ride in Germany was opened in HANSALAND in 1977, built by the American manufacturer Arrow, in collaboration with MACK Rides.

A total of 1,254 tonnes of reinforced concrete was used for the foundation and the lakes. The circulating amount of water is about 3 million liters. Up to 5.1 million liters are circulated every hour and sent through the channel. The boats fall during the ride down two drops, of which the first is 4 meters high. The second drop is reached via a 42 meter long and 22° steep conveyor belt and ends 11 meters deep, with a slope of 35 ° in the cool wet of the sawmill.

The attraction was transformed into a small Canadian lumber camp with greenery and a specially created storage lake. And these lumberjacks are efficient. Almost every 25 seconds, a tree trunk comes down the waterfall. And also on the shore caution is required. Unless, on a hot day, you would like to enjoy a little to a great cool down. Because a lot of water features and fountains are hidden there for big and small water rats.

Unusual, and therefore rare to see, is a small detail of the track layout. The ride has two drops, but has only one lift. In most cases, similar to the Super Splash, every downhill needs a lift. Due to the height difference, and the resulting two levels, the first lift has become unnecessary. Which of course more driving pleasure can be guaranteed.

When leaving the Wild Water Ride, you can finally buy driving photos at the inhouse shop, which will be shot shortly after the big drop. In case of unusually heavy load of the boat, however, it may come to photos, which only shot the huge bow wave of the boat. Furthermore, there are hot and soft drinks, and popcorn available in three flavors. Even comfortable leather furniture invites you to take a short break, in front of a rustic fireplace where the embers are still burning.
