The nostalgic ride was added late in 1987 to the Old-Time Fun Fair, although it has been in operation for over 80 years. With the dismantling of the Russian Swing, it is the oldest existing carousel in the park.
The ride comes from old craftsmanship. The Thuringian company Gundelwein from Wutha, known for fairground shops of all kinds, built the Swing Ride in 1937 for an unknown customer. Fifty years later, the HANSA-PARK acquired the carousel and placed it on the Old-Time Fun Fair, opposite the Cog Ship Ride and the Flying Dutchman. For the passengers basket-like braided seats are provided, which are connected via four chains with the rotating body. Different seat sizes allow to take small children and parents. After 30 years, the Swing Ride has lost little of its splendor and fascination. And certainly this Swing Ride will inspire even more generations.
Old-fashioned techniques still in modern rides today? The chain system of each carousel has a similar structure, even if material and mass differ. Torre del Mar also sprang from this type of ride, despite the intersection with a lookout tower.
